As I was walking out to the compost heap today I saw a most wonderous sight for early January—some of my crocus bulbs were blooming! We had a warmish December with only a few short cold snaps, so it's no wonder that they are ready to bolt out of the gate. You may recall my post back in November of last year where I mentioned my forsythia bush blooming out of season too. The cold is coming, and there's no doubt that winter and snow will still happen, but what a treat to see crocuses blooming in January! With the cold temps predicted to arrive tonight these fellas will die off and go back to sleep, then reappear in the spring as scheduled.

More seasonal confusion
